A training module by ARTS for HEALTH AUSTRIA, the Austrian partner organisation of the CultureAndHealth Platform, in cooperation with the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera.

When dance and music are at the heart of health, learning, and human connection

What happens when dance and music are viewed not merely as performing arts — but as artistic activities that promote mental and cognitive wellbeing as well as social connection?
Across Europe, a growing movement is emerging that recognises artistic engagement as a health-promoting activity that supports human development. New career paths are emerging that combine artistic excellence with social impact.

This training initiative presents a professional development pathway in the field of culture and health based on the Switch2Move method, developed by Andrew Greenwood (choreographer and ballet master) and Frank Antonissen (manual therapist and researcher).

The program brings together knowledge from the following fields:

– Dance and movement – Physical therapy and body awareness

– Music and rhythm.                 – Psychology and cognitive engagement

Together, these disciplines form the Social Implicit Movement (SIM) program — an experiential, creative framework that promotes physical, cognitive, emotional, and social wellbeing through meaningful movement and music.
