A project with our founder Katy Geertsen
Staying active with dance during Covid-19 restrictions
The project combines research, culture and active ageing. It began under Seniorstars in 2018 in Bern as a collaboration between the University of Bern, the Konzert Theater Bern and the Dance & Creative Wellness Foundation. Clare Guss-West - Co-Founder & Director of the Dance and Creative Wellness Foundation - leads the project. In 2019, the project was awarded the Pro Senectute Silver Bear - a national award from Switzerland's largest senior citizens' association. In 2020, the project goes online due to Covid-19 and thus also reaches people outside of Switzerland. In 2021, the aim is to give (even) more people access to this offer and the extensions of this offer.
The project will be dementia-friendly and
will also be offering online services from Zurich from APRIL 2021 with Cycle 3
- the Silverstars.
CYCLE 3 I Winter journey
Created by Schubert and interpreted by Hans Zehnder.

Winterreise is considered to be one of the highlights of Schubert's oeuvre. It also stands at the pinnacle of German art song in general. It is about the mood of a lost, wounded and lonely character. Schubert gives harrowing expression to the existential and the inner turmoil of human existence.

Hans Zender (German composer) arranged Schubert's work under the title: Schubert's Winterreise - a composed interpretation. Zender's interpretation exposes the potential for disturbance both sensitively and radically.
Christian Spuck (choreographer), like Hans Zender in his production at Zurich Opera House, is less interested in depicting the external stations of the traveler. He deals with the work in an expansive abstraction.
Cycle 3 takes place online from April to June. In 15 lessons, each lasting 90 minutes, the participants deal with the choreographies and the production itself.
